LUMINA is the new ambient guitar music work by the Sardinian musician Francesco Perra, aka Perry Frank, published as an EP by Ambient Soundscapes, sub label of Valley View Records.
Lumina features four unreleased instrumental Ambient tracks and a rework by Lauge.
Lumina explores the interplay between memory, nature, and introspection. With layered guitars, analog synths, and subtle field recordings, the EP unfolds like a sonic diary.
Each composition—ranging from the haunting resonance of All Of A Sudden to the dreamy textures of Ausland—guides the listener through quiet emotional landscapes. Inspired by travels and reflections, Lumina showcases immersive atmospheres that are both intimate and expansive.
All the songs were written in November 2024, taking inspirations from a walk in a forest near Iglesias, Perry Frank's hometown in the south-west of Sardinia.
Lumina was preceded by the single All Of A Sudden published by Ambient Soundscapes one month before on March 7th 2025. The song unfolds like a quiet breath at dusk, a tender moment suspended in time.
Echoes of reverb-soaked guitar drift gently across a horizon of soft textures, weaving a tapestry of stillness and emotion. Each note lingers, like a memory surfacing from somewhere deep and distant, while subtle ambient layers shimmer like fading light on water.
All Of A Sudden tries to capture the fragile beauty of now, reminding us how suddenly calm can bloom within chaos.
Lumina glows with warm ambient layers, subtle guitar textures, and slowly unfolding harmonies that seem to hover just above silence. Each tone feels like a flicker of light in a vast twilight space, inviting the listener to wander inward, toward peace.
With its minimalism and deep emotional undercurrent, Lumina feels like sunrise through fog — quiet, ethereal, and deeply moving. It’s a soundscape that doesn’t just fill the air, but gently illuminates it.
Old Times Are Dead is a hauntingly ambient elegy and a quiet farewell to what once was.
Woven from slow-burning textures and melancholic guitar echoes, the track carries a sense of loss wrapped in serenity. It drifts like fading memories, dissolving into the haze of time, where moments blur and emotions soften.
Each note feels like a whisper from the past, suspended in a gentle, mournful stillness. There's no urgency — only acceptance, as if the music itself understands that letting go is a form of healing.
With its introspective atmosphere and fragile grace, Old Times Are Dead invites the listener to reflect, remember, and release.
Ausland is a sonic journey through unknown landscapes, a delicate exploration of distance, solitude, and silent wonder.
Built on shimmering ambient textures and slow-evolving guitar loops, the track unfolds like a slow walk through unfamiliar terrain, where every sound feels like a distant echo or a forgotten thought. There’s a quiet sense of longing in the air — not sadness, but a peaceful detachment, as if the music itself were searching for home in a foreign place.
Ausland captures the beauty of being elsewhere — physically, emotionally, or spiritually — and embraces the calm that comes from wandering without destination. It's ambient music at its most contemplative, intimate, and expansive.
The EP closes with the final amazing rework of Ausland by the danish ambient composer Lauge.
In his rework Lauge transforms the original into a deeper, more immersive ambient landscape — a reimagined journey through vast inner and outer worlds.
Preserving the emotional stillness of the original, Lauge expands the sonic palette with rich atmospheric layers, subtle drones, and a more enveloping sense of space. The guitar textures are gently stretched and submerged, like memories dissolving in slow motion, while new ambient elements glide in like waves, soft and endless.
There’s a quiet intensity to this version — a deeper solitude, a more profound calm. The song feels like standing alone under an open sky, surrounded by silence, yet full of feeling. It’s not just a remix, but a respectful evolution — a meditative experience that honors the soul of the original while carving out its own emotional depth.
