DOLMEN is the new ambient guitar music work by the Sardinian musician Francesco Perra, aka Perry Frank, published as an EP by Ambient Soundscapes.
Dolmen features four unreleased instrumental Ambient tracks and two reworks by Applefish and Narwah.
I’m proud to finally share Dolmen, my new EP. This project is one of my most introspective works to date, a slow, emotional exploration of memory, loss, and the fragile space between light and silence.
Inspired by artists like Rafael Anton Irisarri, Oneheart, and Brian Eno, I wanted to create something that feels suspended in time, music that doesn’t demand attention, but gently holds it.
Dolmen is built around absence as much as presence. Each sound is carefully placed, allowing space and silence to become part of the composition.
The EP moves slowly, embracing a melancholic tone that reflects a deeply personal emotional landscape.
Rather than following traditional structure, I focused on texture and atmosphere, letting the music breathe and evolve naturally.
Track by Track
1. AFTERLIGHT
This opening track sets the tone for the entire EP. It's inspired by the music of Oneheart.
A slow synth arpeggio that stands over soft drones and distant harmonic layers create a sense of something already fading, like the last light after sunset. It’s about transition, the moment when clarity dissolves into memory.
2. DOLMEN
The title track is the core of the project. Inspired by the music of Rafael Anton Irisarri, it features an ancient, silent structures that carries a sense of stillness and weight. The sound design here is more grounded, with deeper tones that evoke permanence and solitude.
3. INNER WAVES OF MEMORIES
This piece is more fluid and emotional with a background sound of sea waves. Subtle movement within the textures mirrors the way memories surface and disappear. It’s probably the most introspective moment of the EP, fragile, intimate, and unresolved.
4. LIGHT FADES
This track brings everything back into emptiness. The elements gradually dissolve, leaving behind a quiet sense of release. It’s not a resolution, but an acceptance.
The two reworks by Applefish and Narwah close the EP like an unfinished and vanishing dream that still try to live in the first moments of the daylight.
Released via Ambient Soundscapes, Dolmen is a restrained yet emotionally resonant ambient EP that leans into stillness and slow decay. Drawing clear inspiration from the textural depth of Rafael Anton Irisarri, the introspective immediacy of Oneheart, and the minimalist philosophy of Brian Eno, the record unfolds as a quiet meditation on memory and loss. From the fading glow of “Afterlight” to the dissolving tones of “Light Fades,” each track is built on subtle shifts in timbre and atmosphere rather than melody, creating a cohesive and immersive listening experience. Melancholic without becoming heavy-handed, Dolmen finds its strength in restraint, offering a deeply personal yet universally relatable exploration of absence, reflection, and emotional space.
