New album by Perry Frank.
The first idea to write ambient dreamcore music about liminal spaces came to me during the fall of 2020, when I visited the old abandoned building of the hospital of "Fratelli Crobu" near my town Iglesias.
The view of all the corridors completely adandoned and wasted by vandals, time and elements, rooms and halls once full of people and now deserted, inspired me to write a lot of singles previously released in 2020 like "Future Is A Ghost" and "Today Is Long Gone".
Definition of Liminal Spaces: Liminal spaces are transitional or transformative spaces, and such places are often associated with a forlorn atmosphere, a disconnection from the concept of reality, and a fluid or sometimes neglected aesthetic. They are the waiting areas between one point in time and space and the next.
Images depicting liminal spaces gained popularity in 2019 when a short creepypasta of unknown origin was posted on 4chan and went viral. The creepypasta showed an image exemplifying a liminal space—a hallway with yellow carpets and wallpaper—with a caption purporting that by "noclipping out of bounds in real life", one may enter the Backrooms, an empty wasteland of corridors with nothing but "the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in".
Music For Liminal Spaces is inspired by this aesthetic and was written, recorded and mixed during a cold December night in 2023. I've mainly used synths and tape loops together with few guitar arrangements to record the songs. Guitar and synths were processed thru a simple chain of effects including Strymon Nightsky, Chase Bliss Generation Loss MKII and Hologram Microcosm.
